Library to stream visit with thriller writer

Roseburg Public Library invites the community to a Facebook Live streaming event with Glen Erik Hamilton, author of the Van Shaw series of crime thrillers set in the Pacific Northwest, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6.

Hamilton is a Seattle native who was raised aboard a sailboat and grew up on the marinas, docks and islands around the Pacific Northwest. After several years in Southern California, Hamilton is back in Seattle, where he continues to write his Van Shaw series about an elite military veteran who returns to Seattle when his estranged grandfather calls him home.

Hamilton’s novels have been nominated for the Edgar, Barry and Nero awards, and he has won Anthony, Macavity and Strand Critics awards.

During his presentation, Hamilton will focus on the fourth book of the Van Shaw series, “Mercy River,” which is set in rural Oregon and follows Shaw’s quest to assist a fellow soldier who was arrested for murder during a veterans reunion. He also will discuss his journey as an author, provide insight into his writing process and share tips on getting published.

A moderated Q&A session will follow the presentation. Questions may be submitted before the event to Library staff at library@cityofroseburg.org or 541-492-7051. Alternately, viewers who have a Facebook account may post questions during the event by commenting on the live stream.

To view the live stream, go to Facebook.com/RoseburgLibrary. A Facebook account is not required.
