Douglas County Parks Advisory Board Member Recruitment

Douglas County Commissioners Tim Freeman, Chris Boice and Tom Kress are accepting applications for three volunteer positions on the Douglas County Parks Advisory Board (PAB). The PAB is a volunteer board that works with the Douglas County Parks Department. The board is recruiting for the following positions: Position 2 – South, Position 4 – At Large and Position 5 – At Large

The PAB meets monthly and is comprised of seven citizen members from all around Douglas County who serve four-year terms. They review polices and rules for the operation of the Douglas County Parks Department and recommend actions to the Board of Commissioners, as well as the Douglas County Parks Director.

The county seeks to diversify the application pool with applicants who represent all areas of the county, and who have specific skills or background in areas that would benefit the county parks system. Members need to be a resident of Douglas County, have demonstrated an interest, and experience relevant to the needs of the Douglas County Parks Department. Experience with government, board operations, recreation management and planning is optimal, but not required. Members are expected to attend most, if not all of the monthly PAB meetings, and be actively engaged within the area of the county they reside.

Citizens residing in Douglas County who possess the specified qualifications and are interested in serving on this board, are urged to submit an application to the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Applications are available online at https://douglascounty-oregon.us/266/Parks-Advisory-Board or in-person at the Board of Commissioners’ Office, located in Room 217 at the Douglas County Courthouse, 1036 SE Douglas Avenue in Roseburg or by calling (541) 440- 4201. Board recruitment will remain open until positions are filled.
