Congressman Peter DeFazio (OR-04) today announced that Oregon would receive $153,006,490 in funding from the Federal Transit Administration to support public transit across the state in Fiscal Year 2022.
“Transit connects our communities, our families, our businesses, and our lives,” said Rep. DeFazio. “Investments in transit reduce congestion on our roads, improve our environment, and help us deal with the existential threat of climate change. I’m proud to have secured historic levels of funding to better transit infrastructure throughout Oregon. I’m glad the administration heeded my calls for this much needed investment and is moving quickly to disburse transit funding across the nation.”
The funding announced today comes from the Mass Transit Account of the Highway Trust Fund and advance appropriations both provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Funding will be provided to states and urbanized areas that then distribute funds to specific transit agencies and other providers.
